The Work:
The four monumental figures are the concrete portraits of abstract laws.
With the imagination, the artist humanizes the principles of freedom, brotherhood, friendship and equality (the fourth man is his self-portrait).
The title of the mural is ‘Fiori di Glicine’ (the woman blows petals from her hands); wisteria has been used in many cultures as a symbol of friendship and brotherhood. Ligama recreates ‘Livornine laws’ (written by the Medici family at the end of 1500 to populate the city port inviting every European community especially Jews) in order find the same illuminating modernity of the past.
A large mural dedicated to those laws that made Livorno a landing place for research, the heart of an open-minded melting pot, the experimental appendix of Florence.
The Artist:
Ligama, born in 1986, graduated in graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, in 2015 abandoned his university career to devote himself to street art, offering many innovative contributions.
